Pole Leadership Program

Positive Spin is proud to be pioneering a new style of pole dance training that focuses primarily on hands on classroom and leadership experience to develop the skills needed to pursue students unique ideas and dreams within the pole world.

The goal of this 12 month long program is to diversify the pole leadership in the Seattle area, while increasing the quality of pole training available. The program consists of one on one mentorship, shadowing, TAing, group seminars and workshops. We also provide opportunities to teach mock classes for feedback, and resources for creating projects to establish yourself as a leader in the pole community.

The program is made up of 3 main components:

  • Group sessions on Sunday evenings from 5:30-7:30pm during the first half of the year. These sessions cover everything from anantomy to marketing to DEI for pole spaces. Your track will determine which sessions you attend, though you are welcome to attend sessions outside of your track too!
  • Individual mentor meetings
  • Either assisting and teaching in classes or creating projects and events, depending on your track.

Class of 2026 Pole Leadership Program applications Are open until the end of October

This year, we’re implementing tracks you can apply for to help you stay focused on your goals:

Event production

Do you have ideas to produce shows or run community events? This track teaches you things like how to manage a team, marketing, and venue logistics. You’ll attend content sessions during the first half of the year and work with a mentor to put together an event using the skills you learned in the second half of the year.

Teaching

Whether you’re interested in teaching weekly classes or just want more confidence helping your friends, this track will give you the foundation you need to break down tricks and create a safe learning environment. You’ll attend group sessions on anatomy, spotting, and teaching specific skills and then work with a mentor to come up with a plan to assist in classes and even teach your own.

Personal pole progress

It is a misconception that reaching a certain level in pole means you need to move into teaching or producing. It is totally valid to want to continue focusing on your own pole progress and invest in building a community with your peers. If that is your jam, this is the track for you! You’ll attend similar sessions as the teaching track and use your mentor time to work on pole skills, talk about sustainable training and body maintenance, or work on putting your pole skills in to a performance routine.

Hybrid

Do you have a unique idea that you want to bring to life but it doesn’t neatly fit into a track? We want to hear about it! Every student in the program will first meet with a program advisor to select a track. One option is building your own custom track out of the available 28 sessions.

A few examples of what past graduates have created:

  • Disabled Pole Dancers: an international organization providing resources and uplifting the disabled pole community
  • Sober Night Out: a quarterly event for those committed to their sobriety to connect and have a fun sober night together
  • Melanated Pole Fest: a weekend long all BIPOC pole festival made up of workshops, performances, and more
  • Back to Pole mini sessions: a program that helps pole dancers who have been out of pole for medical reasons determine where to start when getting back to pole.

This program does not guarantee employment at Positive Spin. It will, however, help you gain skills to create opportunities for yourself in the pole industry, assist in your own pole progress, and help you build lasting and meaningful connections with other leaders in the pole community.

In the meantime, get to know us by signing up for in person or online pole dancing classes.
